S P Balasubrahmanyam was an Indian musician, music director, playback singer, dubbing artist, actor and film producer who worked mainly in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam. He has won 6 National Awards for Best Male Playback singer for his prestigious career of over 5 decades.

Legendary and most talented artist SP Balasubrahmanyam died today (25th Sept. 2020) in Chennai at the age of 74. The renowned singer was paid quite rich tributes across India by many politicians and celebrities on social media.

For over 5 decades he gave 40,000 compositions in 16 different languages. He worked massively for Ilaiyaraaja, A R Rahman and other composers. He also sang for other Bollywood actors as Salman Khan and Kamal Haasan.

Mr Balasubrahmanyam had undergone almost 2 months of treatment and had been in hospital since 5th Aug., he was also tested positive for Corona Virus. Later after a month he tested negative still he couldn’t be taken off the ventilator. MGM Healthcare informed in a medical bulletin that his condition got worst in the last 24 hrs and that he was on max life support.

Before he was tested positive for corona virus, Mr. Balasubrahmanyam composed a song on Corona to spread out the awareness on this deadly pathogen and its effect.

"I composed this number. Let us listen to this... it is not more musical, it is more lyrical," Mr. Balasubrahmanyam said months ago

Called 'Paadum Nila' or 'Singing Moon' by his countless fans, he was honoured with Padma Bhushan and many National Awards. Condolences to his family, friends and admirers."
