  1. Buy Smart: Be a smart buyer, plan your grocery list and shop accordingly. Buy exactly how much you need and avoid impulse buying. Wait for your groceries to get over before you go for purchasing more. This ways you save money and also you don’t waste food.

  2. Love Your Fridge: Use your fridge as much as you can. Fridge is the most common way to preserve food that each and everyone know of. You can actually batch cook your week’s meal and store it in your fridge, warm it when you want to eat it. You get lot of extra time whole week.

  3. Pickle it: If you have too many vegetables that it can’t be cooked and eaten, you can just pickle it. It is one of the simplest and effective ways to preserve your food. And who doesn’t love pickles.

  4. Practice First In First Out: First in - first out, basically means the item which has come first should be taken out first. So while restocking your fridge and your selves make sure the old stock is put out front so it gets used before it gets stale or before it expires.

Certain food need air tight containers while some required small vent holes, few needs to be deep freeze and others refrigerated. Understanding what and how to store can keep you food eatable for longer period of time. Just a little effort, that’s all.

  11. Donate Even The Gross Stuff: Many farmers are happy to accept food scraps to feed their pigs at farm or cattles, they could also add to their compost. All you have to do is little looking around to find such resources.
