Yet another heart breaking news, actor Chadwick Boseman, our beloved Black Panther, who also played black iconic roles like Jackie Robinson and James Brown before finding fame as the regal Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic universe, died on Friday (28th August, 2020) of cancer at the age of 43.

The actor died at his home in Los Angeles with his wife and his family by his side. Boseman had not spoken about his diagnosis publically. He was diagnosed with colon cancer stage III four years ago in 2016 yet he still continued to work on major Hollywood films. His family said in a statement- “A true fighter Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much,” his family added in the statement. “From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honour of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”

Chadwick Boseman became the first black superhero to get his own standalone film in the Marvel Franchise and was adored by critics and audiences. His movie Black Panther, became the first comic book film to be nominated for the best picture at the Oscars.

The official Marvel Entertainment twitter account tweeted- “Our hearts are broken and out thought are with Chadwick Boseman’s family. Your legacy will live on forever. Rest in peace.”

Director Jordan Peele was one of the first to react to the news, he wrote- “This is crushing blow.”

Boseman’s co-stars Mark Ruffalo tweeted- “All I have to say is the tragedies amassing this year have only been made more profound by the loss of #ChadwickBoseman, what a man, and what an immense talent. Brother, you were one of the all time greats and your greatness was only beginning. Lord love ya. Rest in power, King.”

Chris Evans tweeted- “I’m absolutely devastated. This is beyond heart-breaking. Chadwick was special. A true original. He was a deeply committed and constantly curious artist. Few performers have such power and versatility. He has so much amazing work still left to create. I’m endlessly grateful for our friendship. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Rest in power, King.”

Tom Holland took it to Instagram- “Chadwick, you were more of a hero off screen than on. A role model not only to me on set, but to millions of others around the world. You brought joy and happiness to so many and I’m proud to have been able to call you a friend. RIP Chadwick.”

Chadwick’s co-stars and admirer took to social media to express their sincere condolences to his loved ones.

Chris Pratt- “This is such devastating news. We’re praying for his family. The world lost an immeasurable talent and a great person.”

Kate Hudson- “Devastating. I have no words, just love and tears at the moment. Sending all this love to his family and all the film families that had the pleasure to work alongside this beautiful man. Rest my friend.”
